On the side of the national and social liberation struggle of the Palestinian people, now and always!

Resolution voted by the International Conference Against Imperialist War held in Naples (Italy)

Crece el apoyo a Palestina

The twenty months that separate us from October 7 have presented to the eyes of the whole world a definitive truth: the state of Israel is a colonialist, supremacist, racist machine of oppression and death, whose existence is incompatible with the existence and freedom of the Palestinian people, also due to its ethnic and religious exclusivity character. Presented demagogically as a "home" for a part of the persecuted Jews in Europe, the zionist State was founded itself on the ethnic cleansing and the extermination of the Palestinians, with terrorist methods that now brazenly replicate those of Nazism. We call on the Jewish masses in Israel and around the world who feel all this inhuman, to break in a decisive way with Zionism and actively support the struggle of the Palestinian people, as so many have already done. Down with the genocidal Zionist state of Israel!

Over the decades the state of Israel has waged war on Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen and Iran. It has thus become the most militarized state in the world, devoted to permanent war more than any other on the planet, and the universal emblem of the police state, capable of the most ruthless and technological control and repression of the exploiting class over its dominated people.

The other definitive truth that has emerged in recent months is that this state can do, with impunity, everything it wants, solely because the United States of America, first and foremost, and the Western European states, secondly, support it unconditionally regardless of the crimes it commits. They support it because it is their outpost in the Middle Eastern region, which has long been and still is strategic as the largest producer and reserve of black gold in the world.

The genocide underway in Gaza, a second Nakba even more ferocious and bloody than the first; the total devastation of its territory and its natural habitat; the revival of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank with the prospect, shortly, of its formal annexation; the cynical use of hunger as a weapon of extermination; they are - however - also made possible by the fact that the BRICS countries, starting with China, Russia and Brazil, have continued and continue to supply the Zionist state with everything it needs to carry on the carnage undisturbed, and maintain a "normal" functioning of its social life.

If the genocide in Gaza is the last word of Western imperialism in an irreversible crisis of hegemony in the world, it is at the same time proof that in the face of the revolutionary insurrection of the oppressed masses, in the face of the danger of revolutionary contagion, the opposing bourgeois camps know how to find a way to cooperate in order to try to extinguish the fire together. But in these twenty months, the cause of national and social liberation of the Palestinian people has also internationalized like never before. For decades, the Palestinian cause was one of the main issues of the anti-imperialist struggle internationally, along with other national liberation struggles (Vietnam, Algeria, etc.). Now Palestine has become something more than in past decades: the extraordinary demonstration of courage, firmness, dignity, resistance, and organization shown by the population of Gaza has made the Palestinian cause, reborn each time from its own ashes like the phoenix, the homeland of the oppressed all over the world. As even the volunteer blinds must see, Palestine was not 'a land without a people' to be allocated to ‘a people without land.' It was and is a beloved land of the people who inhabited it and their descendants, now scattered to the four corners of the Middle Eastern region and the whole world, who cannot forget it.

After a hundred years of colonialism, racism, extermination, “democratic” fascism from the Zionists, and Western-Zionism, the Palestinian resistance – at the cost of extreme sacrifices – is standing. Revived, "generation after generation until liberation", not under the protection of this or that "friendly" state as it has no friendly state, but rather because of the universal sympathy and solidarity it enjoys among the working humanity, especially among the young generations, in the Arab world, in countries with Islamic traditions, and also in the entire world – including the Western countries that are still the main protectors of the Zionist state. And it is precisely the strength of this international and often internationalist solidarity that will allow the Palestinian resistance movement to overcome the limitations imposed by the isolation to which it has been subjected by the Arab regimes and the Palestinian bourgeoisie, and nationalist ideologies or by exclusive religious affiliations.

So widespread is this sympathy and the pressure of the mass demonstrations, so extensive is the delegitimization of the Zionist genocidal state, that some European governments and some European 'leftist' parties - with the massacre and devastation of Gaza nearly complete - are now considering the 'recognition of the state of Palestine', protesting for 'the end of the massacre', and launching a few invectives against Netanyahu's 'excesses'. But this late cynical distancing from the current Israeli government, which always accompanies a condemnation of Palestinian 'terrorism', does not lead to any truly determined action to create real difficulties for the Israeli army and state. These would collapse within days without European arms supplies (from Germany and Italy) and without the myriad forms of economic, political, diplomatic, cultural, and intelligence collaboration from across the European Union, which is tied to Israel by an association agreement.

The "alternative" proposals of several imperialist countries and Arab states repeat variants of the proposal of the creation of two states, the project under which the formation of Israel was made official in 1948 and reasserted in the Oslo (1993) and Camp David (2000) agreements, and against which the Palestinian resistance in Gaza has risen. It was a failure and a caricature before and today it would be the perpetuation of a gigantic Palestinian ghetto on the rubble, or - to be more precise - an archipelago of ghettos. Some reformist organizations claim to be "realist". But this is a realism that practically accepts a reality created in terms of ethnic cleansing.

In the face of Palestinians, bourgeois politics and the far-right see the internal enemy, the refugees, the immigrants in the modern ghettos. The neo-fascist Right sees the Israeli regime as the model of the society it desires. The dystopia in Gaza is the “vision” of the global far right, and the commission of a genocide on live broadcast by a country fully integrated into what is called the West, opens a new era. If Israel can implement these policies, and also exterminate an entire people with impunity, the way is opened for the same to be done in every country at the expense of “their own Palestinians”, refugees and immigrants, minorities, anyone who resists and does not “fit in”.

We must also recognize the limits of the great movement of solidarity with the Palestinian people. Both within the Arab world, where only the Lebanese and Yemeni resistance have managed to provide significant material and military support to the Palestinian people; and - above all - in the United States and European countries, where the countless, sometimes enormous, street demonstrations have not been able to counter the huge complicity of the immense majority of political parties, even those supposedly on the left, and union leaderships which have been silent, or even complicit with the Zionist genocide. The complicity of these leaders with the Zionist genocide has maintained the supply of arms and all the war logistics that fuel the genocide.

The signs of combativeness and fraternity towards the Palestinians that have come from Greek, Italian, French, and Swedish dock workers have been significant, but till now - despite everything - too weak to produce decisive results and impact government decisions. The delay of a more massive and forceful intervention of the Western industrial proletariat is due to the slowing down and confusionist work of the bureaucratic trade union leaderships and of the "left" which makes common cause with the military action of their imperialist bourgeoisies, as we have seen in Ukraine.

Excited by the orgy of Palestinian blood it has managed to shed, and by having razed a large part of the Gaza Strip to the ground, the Netanyahu government is relaunching the design of "greater Israel". Israel has already captured very strategic points in southern Syria and has already declared that it will not leave these places in the future. In addition, it wants to consolidate its military advances in the Middle East with a victory over Iran. And, therefore, of permanent war for the next decades with the aim of expanding its territory without limits and striking every obstacle that stands in the way of this criminal program.

To immediately stop the genocide, to wreck this colonial, imperialist design, the strength of Palestinian resistance alone is not enough. Since the Zionist state benefits from the total protection of Western imperialism, the active complicity of all the Arab states and the good economic relations with the BRICS states, in order to defeat it, it is necessary for the exploited masses of the entire Middle East to take the field with even more determination. Only their revolutionary uprising against their reactionary regimes in order to finally be free to attack the Zionist fortress, will be able to pave the way for the birth of a single federation of countries free from the zionist state, imperialist domination and capitalism.

And the movement of solidarity with Palestine in Western countries needs to be able to break the supply chain to Israel, cultural complicity with Israel, and impose a total boycott of goods from Israel. We call on all unions of the world to break relations with the corporate Israeli union the Histadrut which supports the IDF and the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The genocide in Gaza mirrors modern capitalism. It is a genocide through high technology and artificial intelligence. The Israeli army’s murderous actions are presented as planned strikes dictated by algorithms, while artificial intelligence programs give orders to execute children and members of humanitarian missions. The genocide has become the field of application of artificial intelligence tools and digital applications, through which giant companies test their products, simultaneously boosting their profits. The protests at elite US universities revealed that the massacre in Gaza bear the stamp of the largest capitalist corporations on the planet, with technological research as a connecting link. Donald Trump 's proposal for ethnic cleansing through real estate businesses, creating the "Middle Eastern Riviera", is apocalyptic. Until now, all interventions, wars, and even genocides required an ideological or moral cover. The Trump administration is pulling back the veil and cynically revealing capitalist interests, which are always the root cause of massacres.

What the bourgeois regimes, both democratic and autocratic, fear is that the struggle of the Palestinian people will radicalize the immigrant communities and a new generation of militant youth, and will become an example of resistance and struggle taking on class characteristics, as it is really happening. The far right as the vanguard of bourgeois politics strongly emphasizes this element. The Palestinian cause therefore becomes a touchstone for the class movement and the left, the attitude towards it will determine the possibility of real integration of a large part of the working class in the future. The intervention of the trade union forces in favor of the Palestinian people, the further development and radicalization of the internationalist movement pro-Palestine, are  necessary for Palestinian resistance, for the victory of the Palestinian people against their oppressors.
