On April 26th, 100 representatives from 31 countries met to outline a set of common actions in the face of the increasing repressive escalation and political persecution that popular organizations and workers around the world have been suffering.
This repressive escalation deepens in the heat of the crisis of the world economy that sharpens the inter-imperialist disputes and threatens to lead humanity to the disaster of a new world war. Governments of different political signs, from democrats, proto-fascists, progressives, conservatives and leftists, reinforce repression against workers in their own countries, violating the most elementary democratic rights, attacking our living conditions, salaries, pensions, health and education.
Those in the International Forum conclude that the enemy is found within each national border and that the response of the working class and popular organizations to these attacks cannot be subscribed to institutional channels, but that these will only be defeated with the demonstration of the masses and the historical methods of struggle, international solidarity and common actions in the different countries.
For this reason, we have taken the following resolutions, which constitute a first and important step in this direction:
1 -To publish a report with the resolutions adopted by the Forum and the complaints that have been made therein, and make it available on the websites and publications of the participating organizations, translated into their native languages.
2 -To continue to work as a network in relation to these campaigns and other repressive actions that may arise in the future.
3 – To campaign gathering signatures in defense of the comrades of the SERETE union of university researchers in Greece against repression and persecution by the government of that country.
4 - Statement in favor of the uranium miners in Namibia who claim their right to demonstrate and express their demands on May 1st, international workers' day.
5 - International campaign with statements of personalities and popular organizations to denounce the genocide in Palestine and condemn the persecution of the comrades who raise their voices against the criminal policy of the State of Israel. Denouncing genocide is not anti-Semitism.
6 - Also organize an international meeting by all the lawyers and advisors that can be convened from the Forum in defense of those persecuted for supporting Palestine to articulate common actions and exchange resources.
7 - Develop a campaign of signatures and statements in defense of the comrades of the Polo Obrero in Argentina to the oral trial to present in court. Organize demonstrations to the embassies of Argentina in all countries when the beginning of the trial is confirmed.
8- The Forum called for the immediate release and cessation of repressive actions against workers, students and activists in Turkey.
9- The Forum pronounced itself against the death penalty sentenced against Sharifhe Mohammadi in Iran and for his immediate release.
10- The Forum spoke out against ethnic cleansing in Syria under the Al-Jolani regime.
11- The Forum spoke out against the security decree and repressive measures in Italy.
12- The Forum supported the actions of May 3 for Palestinian journalists
